The European Union has designated Linkedin as a “gatekeeper” technology under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which means Microsoft must open Linkedin for 3rd party developers and play by a number of new rules, enabling for the first time businesses to build products on top of the social network.
According to the new regulation, Microsoft must open Linkedin and make the platform accessible for developers, in the same way they have to do this for Windows, or Apple for iOS.
The Digital Markets Act (DMA), together with the Digital Services Act (DSA), is a centerpiece of the European Union's digital strategy. It aims to ensure that everyone can participate under fair market conditions.
As an association of businesses and business professionals who are commercially dependent on digital platforms like Linkedin, we are here to make sure that
Microsoft complies with the law,
the EU Commission understands the needs of 3rd party businesses and
to help Microsoft in delivering a technical implementation that is relevant and helpful to 3rd parties.
If you are a business building a product based on Linkedin, or a business who’s commercial activity depends on Linkedin, please join us and become a member.
